Calligraphy is a native Chinese art with a long and deep historical background of its own, and is one of the four arts of qin, chess, calligraphy and painting. In ancient China, calligraphy had a very high level of participation, and intellectuals in general made varying degrees of effort to learn calligraphy, producing a large number of calligraphers. A considerable number of calligraphic works have been created in China during the various dynasties since the Qin and Han Dynasties; the best of them became the most precious collections of royalty, nobility and literati. In addition, Chinese calligraphy has a rich, complete and consistent theoretical system, which shows that calligraphy was already a very mature art in ancient China.
